How it works

Self-custody, onchain permissions, automatic buys.

Three components that keep your recurring Bitcoin and Ethereum purchases running — without giving up your keys.

1. Self-custody of assets

When you make an account with CoinOperated, you create a self-custodial 1Shot wallet to hold your assets on the Arc, Ethereum and Bitcoin networks. You can deposit funds from your bank account or debit card via Circle's onramp and receive USDC on Arc network for 0 fees. You can also deposit USDC you already have to your Arc address to use for automated plans.

2. Onchain DCA permissions

When you create a purchase plan, you are asked to sign a cryptographic permission stating how much of your Arc USDC is allowed to be used per the selected time period and which wallet it must be sent to and on what network. For Bitcoin plans, two permissions are required. One to move USDC from Arc to Base, and a second to move from USDC on Base to BTC on Bitcoin.

3. DCA process into BTC and ETH

When your purchase is executed, CoinOperated broadcasts your signed permission to the Arc network. First the permissions are verified by the MetaMask Delegation Framework smart contract suite. Then the order is routed through LI.FI. Bitcoin purchases use two hops — Arc USDC to Base USDC, then Base USDC to BTC — in order to reach the Bitcoin network.
